    Director – Policy & Research

    Simon Ng, Director – Policy & Research of Business Environment Council, is responsible for BEC’s work on policy advocacy, thought leadership development, and collaborative research on environmental issues such as climate change, decarbonisation, circular economy, clean energy, sustainable mobility, air pollution and sustainable living environment. Trained as a geographer, Simon is known for his ground-breaking work on ship emissions inventory in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta, and he was instrumental in working with the shipping industry leading to the launch of the Fair Winds Charter. Simon is also well-regarded for his pioneering research and engagement work on walkability in Hong Kong, which laid the groundwork for the Walk21 Hong Kong Conference in 2016. Simon is an Expert Member of the UNCRD Regional Environmentally Sustainable Transport Forum in Asia since 2006, and he is recently appointed as Member of Council for Sustainable Development in Hong Kong.

    Henrik Nolmark is Director of the Volvo Research and Educational Foundations. From a background as civil engineer and urban planner he has been working many years with research management and cooperation related to the fields of urban development, mobility and transportation. He has 30 years of experience from research councils, innovation SMEs, universities, cities and the European Commission. He has taken a specific interest in conceptualizing and implementing inter- and transdisciplinary approaches and methodologies in research, innovation and capacity building, including being responsible for building up the international centre Mistra Urban Futures and leading the Pan-European programme COST C20 Urban Knowledge Arena.
